Course outline

This program is especially designed to prepare you for postgraduate studies in medicine. You will complete a full bachelor degree in just two years, including specialist courses in Medical Science, developing knowledge and skills you need to successfully sit the Graduate Medical School Admissions Test (GAMSAT).

In this program you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the human body, and what happens when diseases, infections and clinical disorders occur. You’ll study cell biology, biogenetics, chemistry, human physiology and anatomy, science research methods, and communication. You will develop practical skills through projects and placements with hospitals, clinical trial centres, pharmaceutical companies and research institutes. You’ll also develop knowledge and skills to work in applied biomedical industries and medical research. Note

This program includes placements in settings that may require COVID-19 vaccination with limited placements in settings that do not require full vaccination. To complete this program you may need to enrol in Session 8 (Summer session) of the second year of your study. Grades for Session 8 are released in February of the following year.

Completion of Year 12 or attained age 17 years; Current or Recent Year 12 with no previous attempt at tertiary study

Additional entry requirements

The Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Accelerated) is restricted to high-achieving secondary school students who have completed Year 12 no more than two (2) years before admission. To be eligible for this program, you must not have previously attempted any post-secondary study at diploma level or higher since completing Year 12.
