Course outline

This course is aimed at those students dedicated to a career teaching in a birth to five setting. Developed in response to workforce needs in the early childhood sector, the course can be undertaken as a natural progression for graduates of the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or as a standalone course. Graduates of the course will have a strong grounding in early childhood curriculum and pedagogy.
We also recognise that an early childhood educator is likely to teach a diverse range of students across the course of their career. Note

In addition to on-campus study, this course is available by flexible delivery, which means students have the opportunity to study the entire degree fully online or in a blended mode and can choose between online and on-campus units according to individual preference. This course does not lead to primary or secondary teacher registration.

Other requirements

Graduates of this course will have completed professional and volunteer experience in line with the requirements of ACECQA. This consists of prior-to-school based learning experiences, structured observational tasks, community engagement, and Professional Experience Program in prior-to-school settings.

English, Literature, English and Literature Extension or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 and 4, C)
