Music technology has shifted the possibilities of how songwriters & composers create, and the JMC Music Production course enables creatives to work in a practical way, focusing on core musicianship skills and industry-standard DAW platforms to create and produce your own music. The music production major is focused on the use of technology as a musical tool and encourages the adaptation of new technologies, and incorporation of new software, hardware, and other media alongside your music.
At JMC Academy, our Music Production course is designed around practical projects, with a strong focus on individual musicianship and developing a personal artistic style. With connections to APRA AMCOS and exchange programs globally, this course ensures you are able to develop critical business skills alongside your practice to launch your dream career. Whether you want to make it as a DJ, Producer or Composer, we’ve got you covered.

Getting some time in the studio is a crucial part of your study at JMC and during the course, you’ll be working with live and virtual instruments to craft your music.

Designed for recording high-quality live performances, our songwriting suites and production studios feature ProTools, Logic, Ableton Live and Native Instruments, along with a variety of MIDI controllers, synthesisers, and top of the range microphones.

JMC Academy’s Bachelor of Music & Bachelor of Entertainment Business Management offers you a new way to pair technical and creative skills in music with the essential business know-how required to understand all facets of the music business industry. This unique blend of artistry and business acumen equips students with the skills to successfully manage their own career and transform their music into a marketable product.

All JMC Bachelor Degree graduates are eligible to apply for entry into JMC Academy’s Master of Creative Industries, or relevant post-grad qualifications at any Australian university.

Note

At JMC we have a dedicated Internship Program as well as work placement opportunities designed to have students apply their learning and gain hands-on experience in real industry roles.

You may be entitled to credit for prior learning, whether formal or informal. Formal learning can include previous study in higher education, vocational education, or adult and community education. Informal learning can include on the job learning or various kinds of work and life experience. Credit can reduce the amount of study needed to complete a degree. Arranging and orchestration, collaborative recording, composition techniques, ear training, ensemble, history of popular music, history of western music, lyrical influences, lyrics and songwriting, music business, music cultures, music production studies, music technology, music theory, music and media, performing and creating with ableton live, production, screen sound and music, songwriting and arranging, tutoring techniques.

Fee notes

Domestic students have the option of paying tuition fees prior to the commencement of each trimester or deferring payment through FEE-HELP.
