Course outline

As a graduate, you advanced knowledge in the science of nutrition and can use this knowledge to advise on appropriate diet, food preparation, and menu planning to treat disease. Units of study include human anatomy, biochemistry, exercise and sports nutrition, and leadership in nutrition and dietetics practice.

You provide specialised advice to clients at QUT Clinics and external settings for the management of chronic disease, before and after surgery, eating disorders, food intolerance and allergies.

The honours component is embedded within the course and provides you with a strong foundation in research and critical thinking which will help students to contribute to solutions for nutrition problems. You undertake a research project in the final year of studies.

This course is covered by the QUT Offer Guarantee. The QUT Year 12 Subject Adjustment Scheme does not apply to this course. Deferment is not available.

Dietitians Association of Australia; Public Health Association of Australia; Sports Medicine Australia, Sports Dietitians Australia; Nutrition Society of Australia. Graduates can apply for the Accredited Practising Dietitian credential.
